This is a Quokka. Yay.
Quokka’s only exist on Rottnest Island, which is a small island about 19km off the coast of Perth.
Quokkas are about the size of a cat, are super cute and aren’t afraid of humans - which is the best thing. They’ll hop right up to you.
It’s been suggested they be domesticated, because it would help preserve the species… and they’d make really cool pets. I can’t see that happening, though.
We have the best animals in Australia.
