etrangere: Someone had a $2 bill in their deposit today!! I was thrilled. And then I saw that it was printed in 2003 and I was confused. I thought they stopped circulating it in the early nineties. But Wikipedia corrected me: The perceived rarity of a $2 bill can be attributed to its low printing numbers that sharply dropped beginning in the late 1950s… Lack of public knowledge of the $2 bill further contributes to its perceived rarity. This perceived rarity can lead to a greater tendency to hoard any $2 bills encountered and thus decrease their circulation. My sister uses one as a bookmark. Maybe we should all push for a repopularization of the two dollar bill.
