Noted on wikip, with regard to Dave’s insanely long “no-breath” screaming on the last verse:
Dave Grohl won a Guinness world Record for the longest single continuous outward breath in a live vocal take.[citation needed]
Indeed, a citation is needed. Because — although I can’t find anything on the Guinness site about it — if it’s true, that’s fucking awesome.
In other news: man, I love this whole record. Still listening to it obsessively these days. Again, another great 90s record that just passed me by.
In fact, The Colour and the Shape almost (almost!) makes me want to get re-divorced from my first wife.
I mean, sure, Afghan Whigs were boozy and boon companions through that black Spring of ‘99. But, somehow, I think Dave’s screaming might have been even more comforting. Thank God, I’ll never have to find out.
